A Letter To Sandy Hook

When I found out about the incident that happened I was in shock. It made me think, I am safe in my own school? Are the other students safe? It’s unbelievable how someone can walk into a school unsuspected and there is no security around to check for ID or ask why they are there?

This event not only changed me as one individual but the whole country and the way we are keeping our children safe. How can we add more safety to secure us or any other schools? I am a former student and I think about what if that event would have happen in the school that I was at?

I think that everyone is more cautious when it comes to children’s safety. I ask what are the communities doing every day to improve our safety? I don’t know how it feels to lose a loved one. It must be hard for you to continue on with your life knowing that they are gone and I hope this letter gives you the courage and strength to wake up every morning.

Even if they are gone they will remain in our hearts and memories. We must all come together protect the ones we love, we must keep them safe. As a student I am scared that this could happen again in my school or in other areas as well. That is why there has to be a new way to keeps kids safe in school.

Dear parents from the sandy hook incident,

When I heard the terrible news from my family and friends I was shocked. I was stunned how one person can cause horrible damage in a school full of innocent people. To think those kids were not expecting such a situation where their lives were on the line, and teachers who were willing to sacrifice their lives for kids, make me notice that there are some good people in this world, and that not everything is lost.

Hopefully schools will realize that protecting their students should be a priority, and not a second choice. When I went to school on Monday, two days after the incident, I was more aware on what school security does and how their lives are affected. Somehow, I don’t feel as confident as I always felt in school and neither do my teachers. December 14, 2012, was truly an event to remember and to think of when trying to reduce crime, public shooting, and ideas on how to make the world a safer place for people.

Dear families of Newtown, CT,

My heart goes out to all of you. I know what it is like to have someone in your life taken away from you. Waking up each day just wishing you could just see them one last time. I remember the day it happened and watching the horrible tragedy on the news, this had such a huge impact on me. I really couldn’t hold back my tears. I want to express these words in the best way that I can and how what happened has changed my views on how valuable life is and how I will no longer take things for granted.

As a student I am scared knowing we may not have the necessary protection that we need. We come to school to learn, to make ourselves proud of something we have accomplished, and not to be worried about our safety. We need to have better security so kids want to go to school instead of stay home, hide, and be scared.

This was not meant to happen; no one has the right to take a life away. I know I will do everything possible for this not to happen again. The lives that were lost in this horrendous act will always be remembered.

As people keep pushing the bar to get into shape, new foods and ideas surface. Now the protein bar is not a new idea, we all know this. But statistics show that Americans are always pushing the envelope along with plenty of weight. Don’t get me wrong, I am overweight as well. So I am not passing judgement on anyone here. But these bars are getting out of hand. Also everyone is making them now.

The weight loss industry has jumped in to promote products to aid in weight loss, bodybuilding, and health so all you have to do is pick your area of concern and move in. These bars are not cheap though. Depending on what you want to purchase and what type of quality you are looking for. The protein bar or RTÉ’s (ready to eat meals) is a product that mostly every store carries as well. Everything from convenience stores to supermarkets to specialty weight loss and muscle-building stores. These energy bars, can be found at health food stores, and your local gym.

For a while now these bars claim to contain enough nutrition to be a meal replacement, and now you can even purchase these bars that inflate or expand in your stomach with some water, to assure you the feeling of being completely full. Are they really all they claim to be though? Also many people are not willing to sacrifice taste, so are they good tasting? Some taste good; some don’t.

So how can you determine which bars are the best protein bars that suit your needs and wants? Sometimes you have to sacrifice taste for nutrition. Other times depending on which bar you purchase, you get them both, or you get nothing. All I can tell you is compare labels and nutritional value.

Another thing to consider are the calories, they should fall in the range of 220 to 320 (for weight loss, shoot for less than 280). That is the guideline that I stick too and it has worked for me. In addition to the protein bar, you can also supplement the protein shake to offset the taste, these taste good for the most part. In addition it gives you another way to eat a meal, without having to eat a bar, everyday before or after your work-out. If it is a bar you prefer, then keep them low in carbs-25 grams or less.

Dear Survivors,

No, you do not know me, or I you. But I am here to let you know that we are here. We are here for you to lean on. We can never fully comprehend what has happened to you, but we can try. We will try to our greatest potential to both help and listen. No we cannot go back and change what happened on that day. But what we can do is take precautions. So that something like this will never happen again. To prevent our nation from having to go through such a tragedy, to prevent our parents and grandparents from losing a child or grandchild. To prevent anyone having to feel the pain that you, the survivors, have felt.

I want to let all of you know that as part of the next generation, I believe it is essential that you understand that we will try to do as much as we can. I know that I am just ONE vote. But that ONE vote can make a difference. I want my voice to be heard, I want the voices of those innocent children and those brave adults to be heard. I want to make a difference, for that little girl who will never get married, or for that boy who will never know if basketball could have been his passion, or for those adults who will never be a grandparent. The voices of those angels will be heard. They will be able to look down and smile, knowing that all that we will do is for them.

I believe the first thing that should be addressed is gun control. I strongly believe that our nation should have more restrictions on guns. Why on earth would a civilian need a gun used for war? No good reason. I believe those angels would agree and you, the survivors, would too. That will be the first thing I will use my voice for, alongside you and the angels. Gun control is biggest mission.

This letter is written not only to those angels, it is to you, the survivors. Your voices will be heard. Please know that the next generation will stop at nothing to help. This has not just shocked you, but me too. I for one cried when I saw the news. At the moment, all I could think about were those children, how that could have been my brother’s school, or mine. I knew I couldn’t do anything. So I vowed that when I could, voice my choice I would. All of this is for those angels and for you, the survivors.

Dear Families of Sandy Hook Victims

December 14, 2012 is a day impossible to forget. It was the day that god received the most beautiful angels, and the day we lost them. My condolence’s go out to you, the families of the victims. I know the pain must have been unbearable. But even though they are not here physically, they are here spiritually, guiding you and never leaving you alone.

I’m sure December 14 affected and changed your lives, but it has also affected and changed mine. Ever since this incident I have been more grateful for the things in my life. I now know that nothing lasts forever, and I should appreciate what I have while I have them. Now, I make sure to kiss my sister goodbye and tell her I love her before leaving to school, keeping in mind that this might be the only time I see her. I make sure to make some time for family, for they are the most important people in life. I make sure “I love you” is the last thing I say to them before heading off.

I make sure to smile every day, to not let the little things get to me, to love more and to care more. I know what happened on this day was horrible, and it shouldn’t have happened, but it did, and out of everything bad, comes out something good. I will pray for you every day.

Dear families of Newtown Connecticut,

As a student and a human being I am both shocked and disgusted by the tragedy that has occurred in your small town on December, 14th, 2012. The fact that anyone would do such a thing sickens me to my core. But it also does something else to me. It sends fear throughout my body. Fear for others. Fear for myself. Fear that no one anywhere is safe. It made me reconsider how safe I actually feel at school.

Ever since elementary I always felt like school was a place where I could be safe from the troubles of the outside world. Until that day. Ever since that day I’ve wondered what I could do to make schools safer. What I could do to prevent things like this from happening.

I would definitely try to increase security around the area, or maybe have better doors that lock from the inside, or maybe just having people in the front desk screen guests and visitors better. Because of this event I also just hug my mother and sister that much tighter when I head out to school. I have also pledged to start reporting suspicious things to prevent another tragedy like this from happening again!

Here is a review of how to take a cheap trip Walt Disney World, whether you are a Florida Resident or not. If you are a Florida Resident, then I will also add a paragraph in this post on how you too can benefit from a Walt Disney World trip.

Cheap Walt Disney World Trips

In order to spend as little money as possible here are a few tips to help you along your trip and make sure that you follow these as I am a Walt Disney World fanatic and my trips span over 68 visits in over 22 years to Kissimmee Florida. Now I enjoy trips to Universal Studios and Sea World, and some of the other tourist attractions in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, but for my money I prefer Disney World hands down.

OK so you want to save some money, well here are some of the things that you can do to help offset the very heavy costs of a Disney World stay for at least a week, as well as some of the tickets necessary to enjoy the Summer fun or any other seasonal time that you wish to visit the Walt Disney World theme parks. Parks like the Magic Kingdom, Epcot (my favorite), Hollywood Studios, and of course Animal Kingdom. Let’s not forget the water park theme attractions of Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

Forget that trick to get reduced tickets for a seminar. Nobody wants to go to Orlando and sit through a 4 hour seminar to get some cheap tickets at a reduced price. First of all, Walt Disney World finances tickets for people who want to get annual passes. Something I recommend if you have small children or pre-teens. Heck in my home even the teens love the Walt Disney World family of entertainment as much as I do and my younger kids. So special financing through Walt Disney World is available. These come with low monthly payments and they finance them for one year. Can’t beat that, especially since the first installment is lower than the price you would pay to foot the entertainment bill for 1 week. Really!

There are also many different Walt Disney World cruise line / theme park packages around that you can get at discount prices. These packages come with a 3-4 day cruise and a trip to the Magic Kingdom theme parks as well as the Walt Disney World resort hotels. Even though Port Canaveral Florida departs quite a ways from Orlando, Walt Disney World offers transportation (bus) from one place to the other. Expect a short 3-4 hour trip depending on local traffic and pick up times.

Walt Disney World offers everything from casual dining to fine dining. Most of these packages can come with a dining plan. I will say this, the dining plan is not what it once was, nor is it as cheap as it once was, but there are plenty of bargain plans out there. This can also be part of your package deal. Check deals and pricing before actually committing to it.

Walt Disney World Florida Resident

The Walt Disney Florida resident plans are very special, and they include a host of special perks. The only catch is that you have to reside in Florida to take advantage of the deal. Great pricing on tickets and some incredible three and four-day ticket plans. Making special Walt Disney World theme parks available at just about $45 a day. Certainly something to look into when purchasing tickets as a Florida Resident is the AAA auto plan deals. These ticket deals are just as superb as any other ticket deal out there. All of these plans come with the added value that you can add water theme parks to your tickets for a small fee. So really as a Florida resident, there is no reason that you should not be taking advantage of this deal and making a trip to Walt Disney World very soon. See you there.

The Cheesecake Factory Menu

One of my favorite TV shows The Big Bang Theory, boasts Penny as a waitress of the Cheesecake Factory. The group frequents the restaurant. Most of the time Penny is working the restaurant, and just about always vows to have Sheldon behave, or someone may spit in his food. I can tell you that I also frequent the restaurant and I can tell you that like many restaurants, as the necessity to improve their business client’s increase, so does the specials for the consumer. The Cheese Cake Factory lunch menu is geared to get you in and get you out, with a nice lunch meal for a little price.

This company is located primarily in the United States and currently operates 139 full service and casual dining restaurants in major cities around the world. Many people believe that their menu is extensive and expensive and I do not believe so. I believe that for the money that they charge, the portions are immense. After all you are dining in a restaurant that has large options and lavish decor, and what else but a variety of cheesecake desserts for the final touch.

With an offering of a casual dining experience, and some of the deserts available, the menu contains well over 200 selections of food and 50 different cheesecakes and desserts. My favorite as well as that of my families is the Mango Cheesecake. Some of the others that we have tried and given the two thumbs up are the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake and White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake, truly something amazing to cap off a diner or lunch.

Many of the cheesecakes that are available at the restaurant are also available as to go cakes. So if you want to experience the great taste of these deserts, you can stop by pick one up and take it with you. Many times, while we are out for a walk in the Pembroke park area, we will eat somewhere else and drop by for a cheesecake dessert. They have the inside cheesecake bar, that makes it easy for you to stop on by and grab desert without having to wait for a table. This place is so popular in my area, that seldom on a Saturday night is the wait less than 30-40 minutes. A true tribute to the food they serve as well as the quality of the food.

This restaurant offers cuisine from many different cultures, like Malaysian, Caribbean, Thai, aside from the very European style food. They also offer online services, and you can order food to go. They also offer cheesecakes to all parts of the world and they deliver them straight to customers in dry ices, I am always on the look for the free cheesecake vouchers. During this last holiday season, they ran a special that was just about as good as any other promotion that I have ever taken advantage of. The promotion offered one free cheesecake (your choice) for the purchase of a $25.00 gift card right there from the restaurant itself. The gift cards could be used that same day.
