The Sandy Hook Tragedy

To whom it may concern,

On December 14, 2012 the city of New Town, Connecticut was shock. Students and staff from Sandy Hook Elementary were attacked. Students were killed as well as staff members in the course of the shooter taking the school under attack. A heroic teacher tried her best to protect her student but was not strong enough to stop the shooter. The past event stunned the world. But may the deceased not be forgotten and may they rest in peace.

I am scared to even believe that anything is good after the December 14, 2012 tragedy. My train of thought has been altered by the occurrence at Sandy Hook. No longer do I believe that school security is a joke, but a job that requires a lot of work and commitment. You may even have to risk your life. I hope that the school board is working hard to reinforce security in all of our schools.

Since that morning, I have gained much more admiration for my teachers and school staff. I know that if something similar where to happen in my school, they would have to be the ones to act first. Victoria Soto is a hero, she risked her life to protect the life’s of here students. For that I believe she should always be considered a hero. What guts it must take to get in the way of gun fire knowing that there is a large possibility that you may get shot and or killed.

To the parents of the beautiful children that passed away, may they rest in peace. Thank you for sharing with the world their lives and remember to always fall back on the good times you had together. Your young ones will always be their next to u to take care of you, I truly believe that!

Sincerely,

Christian Menendez
