Praying For Victims Of Sandy Hook

Dear Newtown Families,

In my sixteen years of life, I’ve always taken everyone for granted. Although I love my friends and family, I never gave their presence enough value. After I heard about the tragedy that occurred on December 14, 2012, I changed my ways. For weeks and months, it was all people spoke about and I couldn’t avoid thinking of how your community must feel. I cried when I thought of how Christmas would change for so many families who’s loved ones were savagely ripped away.

I spent that Christmas with my family and told them how much I cared for each of them. Little by little, I started to appreciate my life more and value the people in it; the people I love. This tragedy also made me concerned for the lives of those people I value so much. I read about how teachers gave up their lives for others’ children and protected them. I questioned my own bravery and concluded that I’d do the same.

Please, accept my sincerest condolences for the courageous and the innocent souls you lost. I want you to know that this tragedy affected me strongly and that my heart aches for your loss. Be aware that this whole nation is supporting you in honoring your loved ones.

-Sincerely,

Daniela Crespo
