Whether you are in NY or California, Florida or Nebraska and you are searching for a part-time job or full time job, the basics are always the basics.  You first of all have to identify who is hiring now and then of course you then search all job listings of the company that you are searching for employment with.  That may very well be the McDonalds job, or the Burger King job, or a host of other fast food companies that begin the hiring spree for the typical Summer jobs.

Typically many of these jobs do not require a resume, but the more information you have the more professional you portray yourself to your prospective employer, something to consider. So the company that you are applying to does not require you to speak to human resources or filling out an online application, that only means that process just became a whole bunch shorter. Most of the time there is no pre-screening and the application is a very quick process.  Most fast hiring jobs are, and most of the typical fast food jobs are as well. Meeting the job requirements are simple and something that most teenagers will not have an issue with.

Don’t stress over the job and what it entails.  Most of the time you will hear plenty of duties and responsibilities but do not let that stress you. Having a job-search game plan, is important and believe it or not, it can relieve some of the stress that you are feeling. Just because you’re looking for a job doesn’t mean you need to apply to every job that comes your way. Instead, try to take the time and create a plan on how you’re going to land your next Summer time job. Schedule your week so that you do not spend un-necessary time in front of a computer searching for nothing in particular that is going to help you land that job.

Try to learn a little something about the company that you are going to apply for before you actually apply. If that happens to be a fast food restaurant chain like the McDonalds job, then do some research like what the pay is? When do they offer more raises?  Some of these companies offer raises in intervals of every three months or four months of based on the performance of the employee.  Additionally, even if you have applied with several other companies in the past three months, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare for the next application that you fill out.  Do not rest on your laurels, and take the time and interest to prepare for each and every job like it is the one you are going to land. Knowing about the company and about the position will most certainly help reduce the stress.

Pay close attention to the details of the interview, and make sure you know the name of the manager or managers that are conducting the interview.  This is a reference that you will be able to come back to as the process moves forward, and most certainly you will want to be able to communicate with someone from the company on a name to name basis.  You will also want to document any names of the people that you speak to daily via the phone or in person.  There are many keys to obtaining a fast hiring job for the Summer, but the most important key is your timing and that is what I will stress here today.  Search for a fast hiring job right now and do not let someone else get your job!

Many of the places that will be hiring, are places that most people would not even consider an employment venue for a fast hiring job.  The Days Inn is just that place.  With many jobs in hotels being of the service nature, like housekeeping, and this may not be an ideal job for a teen.  There are however many other duties that a young adult or teen could do.  This would entail jobs like registration, and guest services.  The hospitality industry is an industry that many high schools are starting up academy’s in.  They teach teenagers everywhere how to succeed in that field.  Hotels are the first to feel a recession and just about always are the last to recover, but remember we are talking Summer here, and many people amid the current recession will take their families on vacations, so the jobs will be there. People everywhere that want to convert a regular convenience store into a 7-Eleven, need to operate these stores under the pretense that this store will benefit much more from a hot-spot, where it does not solely depend on local customers. A cool little fact is, a new 7-11 opens every 6.5 hours. Wow how is that for jobs being created!

Some of today’s fast hiring jobs are jobs that put smiles on kids faces.  You guessed it the fast food service industry is where teenagers everywhere can get part-time and full time jobs quickly.  I know that there are people everywhere searching for some type of employment and that is why I have taken on the challenge to educate and point in the right direction as many people as possible. Now on to exactly what type of jobs are the fast hiring jobs.  Well, if you are a teenager and you need employment fast look no other company than McDonads.  The McDonalds application is hands down the quickest application to fill out and get results with.  As a job counselor to students, this is one direction I push them in the most.  Why you may ask?  Well I will tell you why.  This is just the right company for green students, and by green I mean, students and teenagers that have never had a job or any kind of employment experience before, to actually work for a company that is patient and willing to bring the best out of its employees.

How do they do this?  Well they have incentive raises that keep people in general teenagers or not interested in working hard, and learning and in the result they give them incentive raises, depending on the store at a rate of every three months or so.  Additionally, some of the finest McDonalds restaurants managers that lead the helm of the stores that each and everyone of us visit, where once part-time, full time employees on the ground floor just like you will be if you apply and get a McDonalds job.  This is the main reason I even recommend the jobs at McDonalds.

Now is the time to begin your job quest with the many jobs at McDonalds that are available this time of year. What I try to instill in young adults and teenagers alike searching for employment is to harp on the companies that hire quickly, or rather the fast hiring job.  The McDonalds job is one of those that are pretty quick with the hiring process.  Although the same can be said for many of the fast food restaurants to include Wendy’s, Burger King, Checkers, Taco Bell and many, many more, I think still think that this restaurant is the fastest, bar none.  Perhaps the turnover issue has something to do with this, but I am here to tell you that these companies are no longer considered as transient jobs.  The main reason is that many of these companies are doing everything they can to keep these employees and try to stop the turn over ration, that is so often associated with fast food jobs.  McDonalds applications are always first and foremost the most filled out application by the elderly, and teenagers and the company does not disappoint.

An ideal job for teenagers and the elderly, and the main reason is that these jobs are often of the part-time variety.  This is great for the elderly that are just looking to bridge their social security checks with a little extra income and extra comfort for their later years, but also for teenagers that want to stay in school be it high school or college and keep the income flowing.  Something to consider also here is the prospective that perhaps a move up the good old corporate ladder is not a bad thing to do, and this is just the company to do it in.  If you think you have heard enough and like what you read, then apply for a job today for free.

I have been guiding teenagers and adults alike in the way they go about getting a job in McDonalds for the better part of eight years. I must say that technology is a beautiful thing. If you are reading this, then that is my case in point as you are searching the Internet. But, I will argue that the good old traditional way is the best. You have to understand that yes there are consumptions like fuel and time, that make the trek on foot a harder decision to take. After all we have become a society that feels like everything should be at our finger tips, and to some degree I agree. However, picture the below scenario and maybe your approach will somewhat change.

I have encountered many applicants of the McDonalds application online, that have not had success with the Internet and or getting employed. I know this to be true and have read many of these types of stories on the Internet and I have done my research and know that the system is flawed. For the most part, the Internet version of the application is in most cases just a shell. I can tell you that a manager that is stressed for time working a McDonalds site, will be more apt to make a gut decision in the moment of necessity for a position that he or she needs to fill with someone in person, rather than go through the Internet and people that have filled out an application for employment with the company. Besides with some of the many private owned McDonalds through the franchise route, there can be very different hiring policies as you go from restaurant to restaurant. So you want to devise a good plan if you want to be one of those 50,000 to get hired this year.

I would be inclined to recommend a prospering employee to apply in person, and make the application stand-out over the others. Some of the ways that I would prepare this person is by getting the employee to be to get at least a few letters of recommendation or reference, as some companies refer to them. These are easy to obtain and give any application immense value, all of you teens should take note, as this will help teens get hired. Where could you solicit such letters of recommendation? You could solicit them from former teachers, and or previous employers. These letters would point out quality values that you have demonstrated in either school or another place of employment. Character qualities and work qualities go a long way, when an employer is deciding on a position to hand someone needing work. If you have settled on the McDonalds application online, then in my opinion you have made a sound decision, and your opportunities are about to increase drastically!

This place of employment will teach you many things, and if you are a first time employee, then this job will be just enough of a fast paced employment opportunity that will get you over the hump very, very quickly. Pick your chosen place of employment, then attack that application with vigor, and confidence. Do it right, get your job!  Start your job search today, and be one of the fortunate ones.

Those of us who have chosen public service as our occupation and have read the papers and Internet news sources today, without surprise we have found out that newly elected Governor Rick Scott and the legislature have began their promised attack on public employees.

Today 01-26-2011, Republican Representative Costello from Deland, FL filed HB 303 which seriously threatens the financial security of all Florida public employees. This bill starts by calling for the elimination of the “Heart Bill”, a law that provides protection to Firefighters, Police, and Correctional Officers if they become sick with certain illnesses and are unable to continue working. The bill extends the retirement age several years, it greatly reduces the benefits paid out to retirees and forces new employees to join into a 401-k type retirement instead of a defined pension as it is today, it eliminates the “DROP” program which allows eligible employees to shelter retirement money and continue working for 5 years.

It is very easy for professional politicians like our legislators or even a rookie governor like Rick Scott to claim that the economy is falling apart and that the problem is the Florida Retirement System, even after the State Board of Administration testified that the FRS is in good shape and improving. We have become so accustomed to accepting and never questioning our state government that they now can attempt to lie to us and laugh in our faces, then call us dummies and ask that we vote for them.  Not to so fast Rick, not without a fight!!!

The reality is that the FRS is running at 87% capacity when just 80% is considered great, and there is currently 109 billion dollars available for retirees that no retirement system in the nation can claim. From the Georgia and Alabama borders to Key West, every single public employee, employed by the State, the Counties, School Boards, and many municipalities will be negatively affected if this bill becomes law. From the unskilled worker, to the University professor and everyone else in between we will all lose. This is without a doubt the biggest attack on public employees in my lifetime and probably in the lifetime of most public employees in Florida. One would ask why are they doing this to us and our families? And the answer can become very complicated, but it is truly a simple answer. You see the FRS is working and it is making money for it’s retirees and it has enough to pay it’s employees and keep the books far away from the red. On the other hand the super rich in this country who sit in their plush offices in Wall Street see this and wonder why can’t they have something like the FRS making money for them while their members get to have a 401-k that surely will not be even a fraction of what our pension would pay those of us in the FRS.

Think that the Wall Street boys could not get away with robbing us of our pension? Think again. Who would manage the FRS if it was all a 401-k? That’s right, Wall street would be running the 109 billion dollars that our fund currently has. Don’t let the crooks get away with it. We must get active and let our legislators, the governor, and the editors of all newspapers know how we feel.
